WHO ARE WE?

Mlamli Booi is a Professional Electrical Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a Chartered Director accredited by the Institute of Directors. He recently completed an eight-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of SENTECH SOC Ltd, a state-owned ICT infrastructure company, delivering exceptional performance during his leadership.

In recognition of his industry contributions and research collaborations, he was appointed Professor of Practice at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and serves on the Industry Advisory Board for UJ’s Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment.

With over 30 years’ experience in the ICT sector—spanning engineering, executive leadership, policy, and strategy. Mlamli has held senior roles for more than two decades. His expertise includes business strategy, innovation management, engineering and engineering management, regulatory affairs, and general management. He is also an accomplished company director.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Engineering at UJ. His academic qualifications include an MSc in Engineering from the University of Cape Town (1989), a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management (1993), and a Diploma in Company Direction from GIMT (2006). He has further completed executive programmes at Stanford Graduate School of Business: Corporate Innovation (2019) and Driving Innovation and New Ventures in Established Organisations (2023).

Mlamli founded Z-Coms, an ICT consulting firm, which he led from 1999 to 2015. He is a Gallup-Certified Executive Coach, holding a Postgraduate Coaching Certificate from UCT (2021/22), and leads with his top five Gallup strengths: Learner, Connectedness, Responsibility, Analytical, and Self-Assured.
